How to Sell Framed Prints with Print on Demand
Selling framed prints through print on demand is less about listing every option and more about making the finished choice easy. Start with a small, tested collection and show customers what arrives on the wall.

01
Start with a narrow product system
Choose a few aspect ratios, sizes, paper surfaces and frame profiles that suit the art. A focused catalog is easier to test, photograph and explain than a menu with hundreds of combinations.
Make the distinction between image size and outside frame size obvious. Customers need to know both what they are buying and how much wall space it will occupy.
02
Order samples before publishing the promise
Review crop, color, paper, mat alignment, frame corners, hanging hardware and packaging. Photograph the actual finished piece in a room so the listing answers the question a mockup cannot: what will this look like at home?
Keep notes on provider, size and production date. If a product changes, you can catch the difference before a customer does.
03
Sell the finished experience
Explain where the print is made, how it is protected, what the frame includes and how to choose the size. Give a clear recommendation for the mat and frame rather than making every buyer start from zero.
A dedicated framing step can complement POD fulfillment when the customer wants a more personal, room-specific result. The combination works best when the handoff between print and frame is explicit.
See it before you order
Put the advice into a real frame.
Upload your picture, compare frame profiles and mats, and check the finished proportions before you commit.

Is it profitable to sell framed prints with POD?
It can be, but margins must account for production, framing, packaging, shipping, damage risk, support and returns. Start with samples and real delivered costs before scaling.
How many framed print sizes should I offer?
A focused set of three to five sizes is easier for customers to understand and for you to quality-check. Expand after you know which ratios and rooms convert.
