How to Hang a Picture Frame With Two Hooks
Two hooks can stabilize a wide or heavy frame, but the marks must match the hardware spacing and the wall must support the complete load. Measure twice before drilling.

01
Measure the hardware, not the frame guess
Measure the distance between the two hanging points on the back of the frame. Transfer those marks to a level line on the wall, accounting for how far each hook sits below the top edge.
If the frame uses a wire, pull it taut at the intended position and mark where the wire meets the hooks. Hardware systems vary, so follow the frame and hook instructions.
02
Check level and load
Use a level across both hooks before fixing them. Each hook should be rated for its share of the finished weight, with a margin for movement and imperfect distribution.
Lift the frame with two people, settle it onto both hooks and check that it sits flat. Never use two small hooks as a substitute for properly rated support.
See it before you order
Put the advice into a real frame.
Upload your picture, compare frame profiles and mats, and check the finished proportions before you commit.

Are two hooks better than one for a large frame?
Often. Two properly spaced, rated hooks can reduce sway and distribute the load, but the hardware and wall still need to support the complete frame.
How do I keep two picture hooks level?
Mark both points on one level line or use a paper template that shows the exact spacing before drilling.
